TransLeeds is a support and advocacy group for transgender identifying people in Leeds and the surrounding area, as well as their families and friends. We aim to provide practical help with all stages and aspects of transition.
TransLeeds is run by dedicated volunteers from the community who will always give a warm welcome to new visitors. We are able to attend appointments, offer advice, and provide one to one support for trans and gender variant people.
What We Do
TransLeeds support groups meet at a secure locations in Leeds city centre on the first Monday and third Thursday of every month from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. They are a great opportunity to meet up with other trans people and to make friends.
Social events are run throughout the month including Queer Karaoke, film night, boardgaming, and a regular dry social.
We also run the Leeds Binder Library, a clothes swap, and independent men and women support groups.
Community Outreach & Advocacy
We work closely with other organisations in the area. Yorkshire Mesmac help us with sexual health in the community and Forward Leeds provide support with alcohol and substance use.
We provide training to companies and other organisations, and work together with government bodies including the NHS, National Ambulance Service, West Yorkshire Police, and Leeds City Council in improving the lives of all transgender people in and around Leeds.
We welcome people of all sexualities, faiths and backgrounds, and make accessibility a priority when selecting venues.
